Before discussing the bitter gourd recipe I would like to say that we all know the formula of algebra that the result of minus multiplies minus is plus. But the most interesting thing is that it is not applicable only in mathematics. It is applicable in many phases of life. The recipe that I am going to share today is 100% matched with the formula.

Bitter Gourd Recipe with Dry Fish

Food helps us to keep our body fit and active. In this case, green vegetables play a vital role which helps us to keep active and fit. Each vegetable has different food values. Among the green vegetables, Bitter Gourd is special. Many of our faces become distorted when we hear the name of bitter gourd. But it is invariably very good for us.

Bitter Gourd Recipe with Dry Fish

Bitter vegetables purify our blood and increase taste in our mouth. Bitter gourd plays a vigorous role to cure the disease of itching and helps to remove pimples. It has immense value for diabetic patients. It is really foolish to avoid such valuable vegetables.

From children to Adult, everyone should eat bitter gourd. Especially children and teenagers need to eat the vegetable much more. Usually, children are more likely to suffer from scabies. It is very beneficial for various skin problems like acne as teenagers mostly suffers from it.

The argument between the mother and her kids always continues for eating the bitter vegetable. Sometimes she gives up. And my today’s recipe is for those who have already given up. I am telling now how the recipe follows the formula of minus multiply minus is equal to plus. As the bitter gourd is bitter to taste and it is appreciated less to all. On the other hand, I’m using dry fish which is not tasty food to all. So today’s“plus” recipe is mingling the two minutes.

Cook the recipe and see that it is very tasty to eat and also looks nice. The licorice taste of dry fish with the slight bitterness of bitter gourd is just amazing. Ah! Water is coming out of my mouth by uttering the name of the recipe.


Ingredients:

  • Dry Taki Fish(Channa punctate) or any dry small fish: 150-200 gm.
  • Thinly Sliced bitter gourd-4/5 (Small) or 1 (big Size)
  • Small Potatoes Chopped with round shape -250 gm.
  • Chopped or mashed Tomatoes-2 (Medium Size)
  • Finely chopped or mashed Onion-1/2 Table Spoon
  • Mashed Garlic-2 Tea Spoon
  • Mashed Ginger-1/2 Tea Spoon
  • Green Chili-as per your taste
  • Coriander Powder-1 Tea Spoon
  • Cumin Powder-2 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder-as per the taste
  • White Oil-1/2 Table Spoon
  • Salt- as per your taste
  • Sugar- 1 pinch

  1. Wash the vegetables with clean water separately.
  2. Now fry the dry fish in a dry pan cutting these into small pieces.
  3. Then wash the fried pieces several times with light warm water.
  4. Put oil in the pan. Add green chili, onion paste, garlic paste, ginger paste, turmeric powder, and salt in the pan and fry these ingredients.
  5. When these mixture is turning into brown approximately after 10 minutes add tomatoes and cover the pan.
  6. Add coriander and cumin powder when the tomato is softened.
  7. Add some water and cook well.
  8. Now mix potatoes in the mixture and cook.
  9. After a while, add some warm water and mix the dry fish with the potatoes.
  10. After some time, mix the bitter gourd with the potatoes and dry fish.
  11. Reduce the heat and cook it with low heat.
  12. The bitter gourd will remain green if it is cooked without lidding.
  13. If it becomes dry add some hot water.
  14. Add a pinch of sugar when excess water is dried and the soup is mingled with the vegetables.
  15. Before removing from the heat stir the curry well.
  16. Serve the dish with hot rice.

NB: Small bitter gourds are tastier than the bigger one and the same as the potatoes. I prefer green chilies rather than using dry chilies as it is good for health. You can use your own preferred spices and ingredients.
