Bangla shutki recipe with Shutki or Dried Fish curry is a very spicy and traditional dish of Bangladesh. Many people do not like shutki because of its strong aroma, but those who love shutki, consider this as their favorite dish. Usually, people who love shutki very much, have a different recipe for shutki.

But my today’s recipe is slightly different. Can you guess? Hmm… I know you might think it’s going to be cooked with veggies or a curry as we always try shutki in this way. But, this recipe is quite uncommon. Everyone who has tasted this dish said it is new, very delicious and healthy as well.

This recipe is very easy to make, and the cooking process is also very easy. Interestingly, those who live in the villages, they do not have to buy the main ingredient of the recipe. Because almost all the villages, it grows in abundance without any cultivation in the fields or the empty spaces.

Guess what it is! Ok, I’m not going to bore you. It is Wild Spinach. Shutki can be cooked with herbs but this wild spinach is very good to go with shutki which makes this dish more delicious. Instead of this wild spinach, you can use any kind of pot-herb. (The photo of Wild Spinach is being attached for you).

Wild spinach

This nutritious recipe contains plenty of protein. And this green wild spinach contains chlorophyll and cellulose which is the source of Vitamin A. It also helps in digestion and cure constipation. In addition, this recipe is very yummy.

  1. At first, remove the heads and tails, and cut the fish into 1″ pieces.
  2. Fry them slightly in a pan without any oil, and then clean the pieces thoroughly a few times in warm water to get rid of all the sand.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add onion paste, garlic paste, green chili, turmeric powder, salt, and a pinch of sugar. Fry them until soft.
  4. Then add tomato paste and cover the pan for a few minutes.
  5. Add mix masala powder (Coriander Powder and Cumin Powder )and sliced potato. Stir on low heat.
  6. Then add the pieces of dried Bombay duck fish or loitta fish and add some warm water and put the lid on medium heat.
  7. When the water dries up and the fish are lightly brown, add wild spinach in it. Cover it and cook over low heat. You can add extra warm water if needed.
  8. And at last, add mustard oil and cover it for 2 minutes.
  9. Then remove from heat and serve with steamed rice.
  10. Enjoy.

NB: Instead of garlic and onion paste, you can use sliced onion and garlic. In this case, you have to fry them until they become brown. Then mix tomato, mix masala powder(Coriander Powder and Cumin Powder ), warm water, and cook for a few minutes. Lastly, my opinion is that you only get the real taste of this recipe by adding the ingredients according to your own choice.
